Aussie agencies shine at Globes

TORONTO: Australian agencies put in their best ever performance at this year’s Marketing Agencies Association Worldwide’s Globe Awards.

The Globes, held in Toronto, Canada on 20 October, for the best promotional marketing campaigns in the world attracted a record number of entries. Leo Burnett Sydney’s Earth Hour campaign won two Globes – for Best Integrated Communications Campaign and Best Innovative Idea or Concept – as well as scoring the big prize, for Best in the World.

“This is the second time in the last three years that an Australian agency has won the top award at the Globes,” said Kylie Green, APMA chairperson and judge for the Globes.

“We have again proven to the world that the most innovative and outstanding promotional campaigns are being produced in Australia.” APMA Star Awards Gold, Silver and Bronze winners are eligible to participate in the Globes each year with the Star Awards programme to be held again in 2009. Star Awards call for entries shall commence in February 2009.

“The entries this year demonstrated far more creativity and innovation than in recent years, with more emphasis in multi-tiered promotions which involved more than three marketing disciplines,” said Mike Da Silva, President MAA Worldwide.
